Play in the alternator mount

I'm cleaning stuff on the engine and noticed that the the whole altenator has play. The hole on the alternator mount and the on alternator itself are 0.40" while the bolt holding then together is 0.375" (3/8).
Is that normal? Maybe it need a proper bolt, maybe the holes are worn out, maybe the bracket/alternator are wrong.
With all the disaster fixes "PO the bubba" left me, nothing would surprise me.
 
NOPE, that slop is fine, every one I ever seen is that way....the typical stripped threads are about the adjustment ear, so put a longer bolt/nut on it, and call it a day....

You know, somewhere around 1980 that set up changed from 3/8" standard to 10mm metric.
