Start in this position
Put half the spring down in the slot. Then use vise grips holding about half the spring, then turn the spring till it is resting on the wide section of that stud. Then tap the spring down with a hammer. Takes about 10 seconds to do.

Appreciate the help man, but it's taking that friggin whole Devil Designed Mother EFFING mechanism apart, down to the last damn bolt, then figgering out arm A into slider B, and intersect some Euclidean MESS designed by engineers that are/were sick with the Detroit FLU.....
It's a friggin MIRACLE I not broke the friggin' glass yet.....
yeh, I got my slightly modifiec HOOD hinge spring of same size/material in there, that was the easy part,
I have a love hate relationship with my eyeglasses, can't see shit without them, can't see much WITH them grrrrrrrrrrrrr.......:bomb::clobbered::banned:
