How much side to side movement (from torque) is normal for a C3 with rubber motor mounts? If you put a C6 style air bridge in a C3, you would have to account for this movement. It seemss like you would have to have some flex at the connection to the throttle body and the section that goes over the radiator. However, the picture below (of a C6) does not work like that. C6 is able to control movement due to torque better?

The question is, how much?

Larry, I don't have an answer for you, but I'm interested in this issue. I bought a C5 airbridge piece at a swap meet several years ago and have wanted to put it on the '69 but it doesn't package well. Please keep us updated on what you've got going on there.

I hope some old pix are still here/around of my hood open, the up/over induction is much like that shown above, but the ~3" pipe is coupled with a rubber accordion that also picked up the air temp sensor, so from t-body to rubber adaptor, to pipe up and over, that I cut the top of the rad support, and put in a piece of steel bolted on each end, bent to clear....laterally tie in the rad support, pack with pipe wrap, and to a Y piece with two air cleaners in front of the a/c condenser....

dirt cheap, simple.....:crutches:

C-6 has a torque tube. It's solid back to the transaxle.

C-3? 1-2" Less with poly /solid mounts.

It is bolted down, there are screws down those 2 plugs that are on the sides of the air bridge. They are seated in rubber so there is some movement there.

So, how much does the engine move (at the top)? I have an old hood that had a mark from contact with the air cleaner wingnut. The mark looks like it is about 1/2" wide. My thinking now is that I need to put a rubber coupler to the throttlebody and a center pin where the air bridge goes over the radiator. Also probably a good idea to keep the width (where it goes over the radiator) to a minimum.

Not a lot, those engines are in there tight, you can hardly see them move on C5/6s even when flogging them hard.
