Stock power brakes on 68 with mostly stock 327

While looking into the MC reservoirs there was a "squirt" out of the Compensating Port (holes with a large divit around them) in both reservoirs that broke the top of the fluid level while my assistant was pushing down on the brake pedal. Is this normal? I think you would see the "squirt" only during the return of the pedal.

Thanks

it's normal, plunger in the master cylinder works kind of like a two-stroke motor - where the piston covers the inlet. Unlike a two stroke there isn't a flapper to prevent reversion (reeds). So yep, it'll squirt out the top until the piston covers the fluid inlet. In overview, it grabs fluid from the reservoir, compresses that liquid against the liquid in the line to apply the slave cylinders on the other end of the fluid line
