    T5- The Ultimate Performance Transmission

From what conversations we've had and other postings of his I've read on the forums, Paul seems as up on the subject as anyone you'll likely run across. FWIW he has a book due to be published by CarTech (SA) July 1 titled How to Build & Modify High-performance Transmissions. Judging from his...

    T5- The Ultimate Performance Transmission

I don't know of anyone who would vote against the consensus that a Muncie is stronger than a T5, but I suggest you probably ought to have a talk with Paul at 5-speeds if you really want to get technical about how much power/torque a transmission will "take".

I just got a full set of hawk blues for 99 cents

Warpage might not have been the best word for it. Call it flexing, distortion or whatever, apparently the factory felt it was a significant enough issue to warrant designing the stiffer L-shaped pad in an attempt to prevent uneven front pad wear under sever competition braking conditions...

I just got a full set of hawk blues for 99 cents

Anything that causes/allows uneven pressure of the pad material against the rotor is detrimental to maximum braking capability. That would include caliper bracket flex, FOD and/or gas buildup between friction surfaces, uneven piston pressures, and backing plate warpage.

I just got a full set of hawk blues for 99 cents

Looked around for an image of an L-shaped pad to give guys who haven't seen one a better understanding, but this shot from Duntov was the best I could come up with... The "L" at the top of and perpendicular to the backing plate is what makes these significantly stiffer than the single pin...

What mods, if any, did you have to do to install it?

    Shifter throw

Has anyone experimented with shorter 1-2 and 3-4 levers on the transmission? ...or are they as short as possible already?

    Shifter throw

You got a factory or Hurst shifter? I ask because we've been talking about the Renagate's 4" throw possibly being too large to fit the stock console over here... http://www.vettemod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=636

    Sequential shift

I saw that too. The Hewland's I've driven had about 1.5-2", best I can remember, but then the levers were a good bit shorter. I might ought to attach an old Hurst comp plus I have to my Muncie and measure its throws for comparison, keeping in mind that lever length is a significant variable...

    Sequential shift

Evidently its ~$600 plus S&H for this piece. Besides wishing I could find some feedback on quality and functionality another big question is fitment, as I'm not looking to hack up or toss the factory console just yet. :twitch: Yes, it would be nice if there were one for 5 and 6 speeds. That...

    Sequential shift

Anyone familiar with Renagate sequential shifters? They have a setup for the Muncie, and having been spoiled by sequentials when I was racing formula cars I'd love to do this to my C3. This is not a drag strip style shifter, BTW. TIA...

What you should know about transmissions - gear spread

Good article, but I've found no option to have it narrated by Gear Rhonda. :D

    Dana 60 IRS

The reason I asked about this being a Strange piece at the other place was that Strange had first introduced a Dana 60 IRS conversion back in the late '70's (is my age showing?), but I never knew how many were ever actually done and thought this might have been one. Upon more research, the...

    Octane Boosters

It would seem to me that octane boosters would be a worthy topic for discussion, and I'd just like to get the ball rolling by asking what you guys can contribute to our knowledge base on the subject. Thanks, in advance.

So, what brand of wax do you guys use?

Well, I took my good sweet time, but finally made the trip. Thanks to everyone who let me know about this place and who extended invitations to join in.
