    Outside LH Door Mirror Position?

I am working on the doors for my car. Next step is a trial fit for the mirror and correct some issues with the fit of the mirror bracket to the door. So, I remembered something, the mirror on a 1968 was located about 5 inches forward of the position of later cars. I don't recall the reason...

    F1 Engine cheat exposed

I haven't followed F1 for a while, way too much drama and it turned into the worlds most expensive spec racing series with hybrid cars. Appears that this year they changed the engine rules and one of the changes was to reduce the compression ratio from 18:1 to 16:1. However, the are inspected...

    Garbage Fuel Sender!

I am using the C3 fuel sender in a 1968 tank. I started the engine for the first time about 4 years ago but I didn't have gauges until last year. So I have been starting it every 4-6 weeks for the past 4 years trying to run the old fuel through it. But without a gauge I added fuel like 1...

When AMC Lost Its Mind And Built A Ferrari Fighter

This unlikely supercar forged right here in America was one of the greatest supercars of the era, yet its tragic story has made it the greatest American supercar you have ever heard of.

Cadillac Buys it's Way Into F1

Why does this sound like Ford entering F1 when they owned Jaguar? That lasted two years before giving to team to Red Bull. Formula 1 didn’t want them. The teams rejected them. FOM said no. So how did Cadillac and Andretti force their way onto the F1 grid for 2026? The American Team That Will...

Restoring Your Right to Fix Your Own Car

From Congressman Warren Davidson introduces the REPAIR ACT: "Freedom means owning what you buy, and being able to repair what you own. Yet, automakers currently gatekeep the resources and information needed for you to make your own repairs. Treating customers like captive repair clients hurts...

    Frame Torsional Rigidity

Saw this illustration in the film strip across the top of the page that shows the torsional rigidity of a 62 vs. 63 frame. If I recall correctly I think a modern (designed in the last 30-40 years) unibody car has a minimum 10,000 Lbs.ft/degree rigidity. Does that sound right?

    GPS Speed vs. Actual Speed

I drove down to Tennessee a couple of weeks ago to pick up a Tahoe I bought. It was a rental that I turned in and drove the Tahoe back. The rental was a newish Toyota. I was using Google for directions. When I was on the expressway I noticed the Toyota speedo said 70mph and Google had my...

    Vibration from 30-40mph - 1997 Tahoe 4wd

My old Tahoe 4wd (165k miles, automatic) has a weird vibration from 30-40mph. I don't think it's a wheel balance issue (don't really feel it only in the steering wheel). To try and isolate it, I did an experiment. I went up a slight grade from a stop and slowly accelerated to 40mph. At...

Need an On/Off Switch That Will Operate Only When the Vehicle is in Motion

I am working on door panels that "merge" C6 panels to work on a C3. The C6 panels have an electric latch for the door that is operated by a push button. I have the electric latch worked out. I assume (could be wrong), that the C6 has some type of motion activated switch that that disables...

    Carfax, AutoCheck etc?

I am looking for a 90's Chevy truck that has been in the south or south west for the last 30 years. I am in Ohio, and will have to travel to look at any candidate vehicle. I have a 97 and it is rusted badly. There are no patch panel fixes for this. So I would like to see a report that...

Something is Drawing Power When the Car is Off

I have a blade style battery cutoff switch (like the electric chair) on the negative terminal. With the car off, ignition switch off and battery cutoff, I am reading .15-.25 volts. When I look at the current between the chassis ground and the negative terminal, I see 0ma. Does this make sense?

Guy builds a 1/5 scale Ferrari 250 in 8 min.

This guy builds a 1/5 scale Ferrari 250 in 8 minutes. It runs! He builds a roll cage for it using some kind of fusion welding device. Makes the body out of HVAC duct (?) and spots it together with the same welder. Pretty amazing.

    Good Center Drills?

I need a set of new center drills. I have been buying HSS center drills from Mcmaster but they don't last (drill points dull). The smaller sizes mostly. I was looking for Precision Drill (made in USA) brand but it looks like they have been moved to Brazil. Everything else looks like China...
