    New 420# rear fiber spring?

I'm kind of going back to making my Vette a street machine. Previously I had a custom steel of kind of unkown weight and QA-1 single adjust rear shocks. both with and without a 3/4 rear bar. Now the rear with less spring stiffness almost feels flexy or bouncey where before it was rock solid...

Trans gear vs. rear gear ratio ?'s

Yes I had a 98 with a ZF-6. So hopelessly over geared with a .50 OD sixth gear. The car could go faster in 5th than 6th. I installed a 4.10 rear IMO - if you need 6 gears you just don't have enough power. If you have a broad TQ curve you can go faster by shifting less I work at a road...

Trans gear vs. rear gear ratio ?'s

Only 160 mph @7000 would suck for most driving. Ideal high speed gearing is to have peak HP and top speed be the same. That is why I was able to achieve @175 mph at 6500 rpm with only 355 ci

Trans gear vs. rear gear ratio ?'s

Your 383 ci and 3.23 rear would be a great match with a 2.87 first gear TKO 600. That comes out to a 9.27 first. The I would go with the .82 OD because the .64 is too much for a 3.23 rear

    Who's got front coil overs?

Presently I have the QA-1 dual adjust with 550# cut down one inch for adjustability. I'm thinking about going the Van steel tubular A-Arm coil over with 700# for starters. This is for my 3092# road race and street driver 79 vette

    Centerforce clutch

Well TT I said it must be lower HP. Because of no mini starter and lack of other details

    Centerforce clutch

Centerforce DFX 11 inch clutch and pressure plate with 22 pound billet steel 168 tooth flywheel. Even breaking the Crank shaft didn't slow it down. I have great faith in my Centerforce. My big sTicky road racing slicks bite and the clutch has never given me grief. The weights serve a...

    Wilwood aluminum rotor hat

I installed aluminum hat wilwood 13 inch front rotors with stock 7/16 studs and Centerline aluminum 17 X 10 wheels The stud threads went through my taller lug nuts. My rotors became blue from heat except near the aluminum hat attachment points. So it appears that the aluminum is conducting...

    T5- The Ultimate Performance Transmission

The problem with most trannies is that people also fail to realize that different gears have different TQ ratings. Some trannies have strong 1-2-5th gears. I have exploded a manual 5 speed and also had an old 4 speed Saginaw that would pop out of gear just going down the hiway. You are...

    Cheap wide tires

I'm a 17 inch wheel fan. The tire rack has a cheaper brand called Sumato or something like that. I know that one of lightly modded C4 ZF6 uses them for our local road racing track. I think that he had something like 315 rear and 255 or 275 in front. I've been using Yokohama mx's for my...

    Clutch question

I can't say enough good things about my lightened 11 inch billet steel 168 tooth flywheel/Centerforce DFX clutch assembly/blow proof bell housing/TKO 600 Very easy on the leg. Very linear engagement. I even changed the connection point lower by drilling on the firewall arm. It makes for...

    Onboard Video of me crashing

During the last SCCA road racing event I was testing lots of over the winter changes. The best thing you can do in our old vettes is to build them to give you the driver confidence. Right at the end of the race I had my friend in his GT1 1972 vette behind me. I was trying to brake later and...

    Biggest rotor under 15" rim?

My research left me to believe that once you get above a certain level of Wilwood brakes. That you have to think about other master cylinders and adjustment valves I've dorked with lots of things and now I have something that can do lapping races without failure

So how much Tqe can it take

I bought my 1979 new and as power went up I improved what failed. I've only had to be trailered home a few times from major breaks. It has been my experience.............. That i just improve as I go. Like the rear end went. Well it was caused by slicks and drag racing. Then you buy...

Bellhousing dowel pins needed & questions

Without getting into the how toooos, The best thing I have found is the longest dowels you can get or even the locking type. I did the auto to manual TKO600 conversion with block saver plate and blow proof bell housing. My other advice is to get the lighter flywheel and superior clutch...

OK, mine will be the first....

My boss at the race shop packed in a Ferrari F1 while testing in Pheonix 4 March. Anyway as a trophy he brought home what was left of a BBS wheel. Extremely light weight

OK, mine will be the first....

I went with Centerline 17X10 with 4 inch BS. It is more common to find 9.5 inch. I really considered one of the Torq thrust II's, but you have to end up using a 1/4 to 3/8th spacer on each wheel because the calipers hit the wheels. The tire choices for 17 inch front are pretty good. 18...
