    Muncie swap project

The biggest pet peeve of my car is the damn auto tranny. The car was far too cheap for me to pass up simply because it was an auto, so now its time to rectify this great wrong. I did my research and found a great guy in Wyoming who had 90% of what I needed after he abandoned the muncie swap in...

    Engine identification/go forward plan.

When i bought the vette it had a crate engine sitting under the hood. At the price the guy wanted, I didnt care what engine was under the hood, only that it ran. It has only 5500 miles on it. This winter/next spring I want to do some top end/valve train work to boost the power up a little...

    TH350 to Muncie swap

Suddenly its looking easier and cheaper to go with the z-bar. I have heard they are difficult to adjust properly. Is this true? What should I be concerned with? Im going to use a hurst shifter if that makes any difference.

    TH350 to Muncie swap

Bingo. The jump in price from a muncie to a 5-6 speed equals a lot of gas. Plus the muncie will hold its value better for when its frame off time and I need to sell it to make room for a T-56. I respect your opinion mrvette, but the hydraulic setup requires less fabrication (ie welding) and...

    TH350 to Muncie swap

Ok add flywheel to the list of things I need. I told you there would be stupid questions :footmouth: As for the course spline. It seems like it wouldnt be a hard swap, to go with the course. Do the 10 spline shafts have strength issues? Should I be making my decision based solely on the gear...

    TH350 to Muncie swap

This winter I want to switch my turbo 350 to a M20 (I have 355 gears and dont want a close ratio unless I find a killer deal). Ive done some research, but have never touched a manual transmission (except for driving). I have confidence that with some time and a lot of help from you guys I can...

    Header bolt torque?

How much should I torque down my header bolts? The only number I can find is 25 ft-lbs but that is with a paper gasket, im using a percy aluminum gasket. Is there any difference? They are stage 8 3/8-16. My standard bolt torque sheet says only 13 lbs. :noob:

    C5 chassis tucked under a '70 body

I know this has been discussed before and most of you even participated in those discussions. My engineering mind is always working on some crazy idea and this is my current one. Getting the wheel base and track are the most obvious problems because they would affect the overall look of the...

    1970 Repaint in the garage

Just after the new year I began the tedious process of stripping all the paint off of my lovely pink colored car. Here is the progress. After countless hours of fiberglass work, filler and sanding its back to one color!!! Ill let the pictures do the talking. Im worn out. Prepping the car...

    Newbie from Chicago

This looks like a cool new place to check out when I have some free time at work. I have a 1970 coupe that has seen better days. The previous owner did most of the mechanical work (new engine, trailing arms, etc) and put in an entirely new interior. However, he went bankrupt and had...
