Bleeding an Internal Hydraulic Throwout Bearing

Marck, I bench bled the MC but the hydraulic bearing was dry. The bearing is a Mcleod 1300 series and I have seen a bunch of different instructions of how to bleed it. Mcleod has a YT vid showing how and this is what I did:Not really sure I understand how this is working when the guy...

Bleeding an Internal Hydraulic Throwout Bearing

I have had this car on jackstands for a loooong time. Yesterday I was finally ready to put it on the ground and drive it out of the garage. So, I started the car, pushed the clutch and tried to put it in reverse. Major grinding noise!I have a TKO trans with a Mcleod hydraulic throwout...

    Long Overdue Progress!

I thought about bonding a stop to the spring like you suggest, to keep it from moving. I probably should have done it but removing the offset pivot dramatically reduces change in length as it bends.

    Long Overdue Progress!

Made the new mount blocks finished and the cushions bonded to them. Copied the C5 scheme and eliminated the pivot. Also eliminated establishing compression of the cushions based o torque of the bolts. The compression now is established by the spacer height.

Amazing Metalwork - XKE Restomod - Update 1/16/22

NOTE: PART 6 BEGINS WITH POST #16Almost there:Rear Brace repairThe profile of the Bonnet Center Section's rear edge needs to match the profile of the scuttle. Mine didn't. There's a brace welded in that area to hold the shape and it appears mine was damaged from a heavy weight above...

NOTE: PART 6 BEGINS WITH POST #16Repaired:Right Front FenderThe repairs on the right side fender were more extensive. Not only did I need to fill the signal light opening, but there was rust through where the flanges for the inner panels had attached to the inside surface.Previous repair...

Weight reduction: Running out of ideas.

I'm starting to look at installing the dash and gauges. I was surprised at how heavy the stock speedo and tach are (just shy of 3lbs each). The new modern gauges are super light. Sounds like a lot of work but maybe you cut ~5 lbs?

Radiator Fan Control, Off When not Running

I got the module and it works as advertised. There is a 0-10 second delay in turning the fan on (or anything else). So, when I restart the car and it's hot, I won't be switching power to the starter and both fans simultaneously. Plan is, start the car, fan #1 comes on in 5 seconds, fan #2...

    Long Overdue Progress!

I think I have this figured out. Looking at the C5 spring helped. The VBP dual mount spring is a good idea but pivoting them away from the centerline of the spring was a design flaw. A major design flaw. GM figured it out by making the cushions fixed in place (no pivot) and limited clamping...

    Long Overdue Progress!

Thanks for the pix. The problem is that the mounts (shown below), are fixed in position. But the spring, when it bends, changes length (between the mounts. For example, say it starts out flat and then bends 1/2 up in the center. That will pull those points in. This is made worse with the...
