    Aero improvement, or roadhugging weight?

...of air that goes under the car. The front wheels do get noticeably dirty with brake dust under hard use, so I'm assuming that the front spoiler kicks out enough side air to cause a low pressure area outside the wheels. Hopefully this will allow an increase in the volume of air exiting the...

    Project "Rolling Thunder"

Too bad, you'll miss that. Not only does the spoiler look good, it definitely works to keep the air from under the car and the front end planted at speeds over 45 mph. I had one identical to that on my '74 years ago. After loosing it in an "incident" I could feel when it was gone and I could...

    FULL TILT - 77 Custom C3

Thanks meister! Both the front and rear spoilers are totally hand made. I hated everything else I saw on the market, so I fabbed my own. The rear one took me 7 tries to get right, the front took 3. I made the rear one for the previous build, and did not take any pics of that process ...

    Aero improvement, or roadhugging weight?

No problem with posting up the dimensions of this when I get it finished. Please remember that the dimensions are for mounting under an aftermarket PC spoiler (early C3), and that my front crossmember lower surface is very different shape (flat, versus round) which allows the tray to extend back...

...on it last year to fill in missing chunks, and it was cracked in a few places. Then, when loading it on the trailer, I smacked the front spoiler. It broke in 4 pieces and cracked the valence prety good. I figured it was a gonner, but I knew Josh and his dad were gonna take care of me. I...

...more of block sanding, and final paint which is done on the body (see pics). The doors, hood deck lid, head lights, gas tank door and front spoiler will get painted today. The body will start to get color sanded today and then let set for a while to breath. Once I get it back from paint...

Looking for infos on rear spoiler design

I have a '78 front spoiler, harder front suspension and I will probably lower it a tad once I get it back on the road and everything's seated. KidVette, are those rear spoilers period-correct? Because some looks quite ricer to me, I not sure you're being sarcastic. No offense. However, if the...

    Aero improvement, or roadhugging weight?

Well, 130-140 (indicated) is all I've seen at the tracks I've been to (I make no claims to the accuracy of my speedo at track speeds). I don't see where trapped air is going to be a worse issue than before. Given the rough underbody shape of the (stock) volume just prior to the front...

    Aero improvement, or roadhugging weight?

Made a little progress today. Got the splitter/forward pan roughed in. It's 52" wide by 48 inches long. The angle of the photo doesn't show how far forward the PC spoiler front lip is. It's amazing how much area I had to cut away to clear the tires at full lock. Still have some clearance cuts...

    FULL TILT - 77 Custom C3

Awesome build 77.Love the build pics and nice to see how someone can follow through on a vision of their finished car.I noticed your front and rear spoilers and don't think I've seen either on another car.I especially like the rear one as I believe this body style( like my '78)needs that to...

Looking for infos on rear spoiler design

I've always liked the first spoiler pictured, but make no mistake that it is purely aesthetics. If we're truly worried about downforce though, I think our cars are better served with a rear diffuser. But all that depends on cleaning up the aero on the front and underside of the car. The...

I really like your front spoiler / splitter, how did that work out, any issues, from the pictures you seem to have decent clearance.

front spoiler thanks! Hey guys, thanks for the replies. When i picked up the 76, the front spoiler was missing. Im trying to keep the under hood temps low. I already have the Dewitts rad and dual fan setup with a 60 degree thermo. I feel as though the temp just sky rockets to about 195 in...

Looking for infos on rear spoiler design

Purely aerodynamically speaking with my limited knowledge, it seems to me that to get the true performance of something like that, you need to smooth the airflow over the rear deck first, like the Baldwin Motion cars with the rear window following the lines of the rear 'buttresses' did. That...

    FULL TILT - 77 Custom C3

Well, that's information actually, thanks. I was wondering is you took aerodynamics in consideration when choosing the rear spoiler shape/angle? I've been following your build on DC for a while, even if I'm no fan on lambo scissor door I have to admit your project is gorgeous.

When I bought my car it had no spoiler on it at all. Not even the factory rubber "lip". I made this spoiler and dropped the rad temps by 30* according to one of those temp gauge radiator caps. Ive got a stock radiator with some ebay electric fans and it has no overheating problems at all. I...
