    rearend broken in my c3

All the parts used in the telescopic halfshafts come from a late 70's 3/4 Suburban driveshaft. All readily available. But you still need to use the snap rings.(They are not c-clips). To use actual c-clips you need to change to 30 spline stub axles and spider gears. Which, if you are planning any...

    Rear Diff Questions 82

Hi John, Tom's aluminum diff will be based on the iron diff and will allow the use of a 3 series 12 bolt carrier. But you still won't be able to use the 12 bolt setup in an 80-82 because it won't clear the batwing. Mike

    Rear Diff Questions 82

What a controversy! But the truth is everyone is correct. It's not a bad diff but it sure has it's problems. The metal thickness is all over the place. I have not seen two alike with the same internal measurements. Cap thickness varies drasticlly, which is why some break easily and some last...

Problems with my NEW Eaton differential

The case says new clutches but if you look closely it has slotted clutches which haven't been available for many years. I hope this works out for you too but unfortunately the odds aren't good. Howard, what happened it Detroit? Mike

    Steel cap for Dana 44

The diffs are the same except for the stub axles. 80-81 manual and all 82 use the 1350 u-joint. The bolts that hold the straps are 5/16 thread. 80-81 auto uses the 1330 joint. The distance from cap to cap is 3.62 in on both. Cap diameter is 1.06 for 1330 and 1.18 for the 1350. Also the auto stub...

    12 Bolt Differential build

The corvette iron diff shares the same bearings as the early 12 bolts. The 8.5 uses much smaller side bearings so installing one would be almost impossible. Mike

    Steel cap for Dana 44

The weight is right at 55 lbs without the cover. Approx. 20 lbs lighter than an iron diff. No problem talking about my daughter, we're quite used to it.

    Rotten fuel and ????

A couple thoughts come to mind. Do you have a good gakest inside the gas cap? Is the drain hose clear on the filler neck boot? Mike

    Crossfire - worth having?

Hi Wayne, I have been absolutely buried in work. Mainly trying to finish up some lingering projects. Been too tired to spend much time on the comp. Parts are getting expensive for the crossfire and you are limtied to how far you can go with it. But on the other hand I still remember when midyear...

    Hi Wayne, Honestly......no

    Steel cap for Dana 44

Hi Mike, 1. The carrier is thicker and has more neat around the cross shaft. But the clutches are smaller. 2. I'll get you some comparison pics 3. If memory serves correct 8.2 4. No idea. I wouldn't use a D36 in a riding lawnmower. 5. Slightly shorter and thinner metal used in the tubes on the...
