Ditto's with TimAT,Also make sure there is no hairline crack on drive gear and some 7oor4 output shafts have two holes that the clip can fit into,if this is the case with yours,make sure the gear is centered with the hole on the ext housing where the speedo housing slips into.

The 2004r will bolt right in with slight mod. to drive shaft. The yoke is the same. Depending on what carb you have ,you might have to add bracket for tv cable. The speedo cable should work no problem and the shifter wiil work also,may have to find trans lever with right geometry on slotted...

In order for the converter to lock up in 2nd,you would still need an electrical signal from the computer,and that will not happen until your doing about 35-40 mph.

Lock up is fed by 2nd gear oil,meaning, lock up can happen any time after 2nd gear is applied, the rest depends on the computer signal and switching on vb that will dictate when lu solenoid will feed fluid to the clutch. Early computers and switching sucked,they would send signal to solenoid...

700r4 pan has 16 bolt holes,350 has 13. sounds like you do have the 700r4. make sure the tv cable is connected to the throttle lever at carb. If it is, make sure it is adjusted properly(when pedal is full throttle the tv cable should be at full pull,no slack). If that is ok,you have calibration...

sounds like lugs in case broke. if you have engine breaking in 2nd then kd band is working. the delays into rev and forwd sound like too much pump gear clearance.
