$12,000 FIRM I have my 1975 corvette convertible for sale.
It has red body, New Black Top, Oxblood interior (like a burgundy).
Many new parts, almost fully restored. Mechanically, this is top notch. Work has been done on the engine.
New tires. Side Pipes. 4 Speed (rare in the conv.) Has AC but...
I found some Aluminum Wheels from a c3 (a option some years) are these wheels much better than the steels? I assume lighter, but enough to add to anything but looks to the car?
Thanks for that. The website has the following data for a '75 vette:
OEM tires: 225/70-15 (695x225mm).
Bolt pattern: 5x120.65 (5x4.75).
Offset: -15 to 0 mm.
Tires up to 715x245mm (front). Rims up to 22x8.5" (front).
So it looks like a +40mm is far to much offset. Now I have some more...
"How-bout BMW wheels? Or wheels with BMW bolt pattern and correct offset?"
-- I will have to check those out. I live in Miami area and there are always BMW wheels being sold for aftermarket wheels. I am sure modern stock BMW wheels are far lighter than the old steels. thanks.
I found a pretty good instruction for a swap. Figure I would post it in case anyone else comes looking. I will post the PDF in downloads (if I figure out how) if one of you super smart guys look at it and confirm it is pretty good. Hopefully I can start this project sometime in the next few...
I have read on other forums that Ford t-5 has a different bellhousing to trans. bolt pattern so you cant bolt a chevy bellhousing to a ford trans. as well as the tailshaft is different. Their is nowhere for the torque arm and the shifter is to far forward.
That makes a lot of sense.
Forgive my ignorance, I am relatively new and have not done nearly enough research. I will look around for some used lightweight wheels (light on budget) that fit the C4. I will probably post the wheel specs and hope some people can help out with if they are a good...
I love my vette but really hate the gas mileage. It is mostly my fault, I drive too fast and accelerate way too fast. Still, I would like to put a few more gears into my 4 speed. I am still going to hold on to my original trans, just change it for now for economic purposes, try to get a...
Maybe I am thinking about it wrong, but it seems to me using spacers may be hard on your bearings. Kind of like holding a weight close to you compared to your arm out strait.
Am I off base? If so, any idea on the spaces I need? An adapter as well? I thought there was a slight difference in...
I all. I am joining this forum because I need help. I have failed resto projects before, mostly becasue my attention span is far to short. So I made the wise decision to by a mostly restored 1975 convertible. I am loving it and hating the prices of OEM parts (and often the shortfalls of them...
Are there any modern OEM lightweight wheels that would fit a C3? I am looking for a 16" or 17" wheel with similar to OEM back spacing and offset. I am having trouble finding anything other than the bolt pattern. Thanks for the help.
