    Engine vibration: Pressure plate imbalance?

I forget some of the details, but after I bought a Centerforce centrifugal clutch, I started reading forum posts of people having problems with them vibrating. Their centrifugal clutch is a diaphragm type clutch with a ring of weights held in place by a circular wire. The ring of weights...

    OEM Connector Kits

I need to build some custom harnesses for the 1970 and want to make the new wiring look "professional;" i.e. like it would if it came from the factory. I've done this with my 1968. I made some custom harnesses for the 68 using Delphi Weather Pack connectors. I bought my connectors for the 68...

    In Tank Pumps

First of all, get in contact with Aeromotiveinc.com. They sell fuel pumps for modern applications. They're service department can talk about the pump you need for the LS. You have a 70 fuel tank?......get rid of it. Buy a new Quanta factory duplicate fuel tank for a little over $200. With...

    CF and Dr Rebuild Again

For what it's worth. Dr Rebuild came up into a CF thread again. There were some complaints and a lot of favorable comments...and then the thread was .CLOSED. I've had some very good experiences with them; i.e Geoff and his wife. I have a few NOS pieces on my 68 and also many of his repro parts...

    Hydraboost install & review

There were GM vehicles sold with the hydrobeast brake system. One of the problems with hydrobeast (hydroboost) is that the low pressure return line cannot have any backpressure. Saginaw power brake cars that were equipped with the hydroboost, had a power steering pressure pump with a dedicated...

    Hydraboost question......

I've installed the hydro-beast in my 70. I haven't yet driven the car. From what I've read for the hydroboost to operate properly, the return low pressure hydraulic line must have NO back pressure. GM sells a PS pump made for vehicles equipped with the hydroboost. The PS pump has TWO low...

    Run Flat Tires?

I have the Goodyear run flats on my 08..came from the factory. I call'm run flat broke tires...you'll be flat broke replacing them with the same brand. They are noisy, and with hard sidewalls, make the ride harsher I'm told. Mine are 6 years old (tempus fugit) and I think the rubber compound...

    Replacing hard brake lines

I've bought from other vendors, but I've had the best luck with in-line tube. Good customer service. I have SS brake lines and gas lines on the 68 and 70, all from in-line tube. When I order SS lines, I also order SS fittings for the lines. I have Stainless Steel Brake Corporation aluminum...

The 68 Convertible Gets a Paint Job

I painted it myself in the early 1980's in lacquer. Storage damage incidents and aging meant it needed to be repainted. I drove the car to a local Corvette body shop with a good reputation. Actually I've used them in the past for parts, mechanical repair and everything was very reasonable...

doing drivetrain work - lakewood scattershield question

Other than the original post, I haven't read any of the replies. In 1974, I bought a Lakewood scattershield and installed it in my 1969 Corvette. There were alignment problems mounting the scatter shield. I think a misalignment problem caused a loading effect on the input shaft to my Muncie...

    EFI Recommendation

My 70 Project car is now at 454 cubic inches... I plan to up it with larger pistons up to 490's to 502. (The engine hasn't been built, but I do have the 454 crank.) Any recommendations for an EFI unit? So far I've been planning on just using a carb. I think all in all an EFI would be much...

    Traction Control

With my 69 Coupe with a clone L88 engine, anytime I had a back wheel spin, I'd just push in the clutch a little and back off on the gas. Not very sophisticated. Of course, in those days, wheel spin was a little less dramatic since tires then...40 years ago, would break loose very easily before...

What makes one caliper better than the other?

What is an alcon caliper? I have Stainless Steel Brake Corporation aluminum calipers on my cars. I think they are more expensive than the aluminum Wilwood calipers. Wilwoods seem pretty popular so if I was going to buy another caliper set, I'd consider Wilwoods.
