C3 front end lift (aero) question.

I've had few laps at WGI on the long track and have not had any issues with front lifting at 140 or so (Garmin) and i didnt want to abuse my welcome.

It will probably never happen, but if I ever had the time and money, I'd like to get one of these body kits, but build it out to Greenwood tube frame body dimensions. Probably 3 or 4 inches wider per side.

why not just rake the body on the frame mounts a bit.. that is lower the front about an inch and raise the rear about a half... add more down force at speed along with the corresponding induced drag...

of course this will require reworking the radiator mount and lowering the radiator, adding more hood clearance, and if you have hooker or like sidepipes sectioning the bottom of the front fenders for clearance... ask me how I know...

:D:D

Greenwood did that too. Did you do a thread on that work?

That dream car garage car used over the frame header primary tubes for the side pipe headers, which I thought was a good idea.

I'm still looking for a PDF of the corvette fever article.

yeah i think i did a thread but it might not be here... i did it way before we all came over here... its really easy on my 71 with the ecklers body... ... I replaced the rear body mount mounts and when i put new aluminum spacers in i just left them out of the front and added them in the proper proportion to the rest of the mounts. and drilled new holes for the radiator bracket/fender mounts... I sectioned about 1/4 inch more than the drop out of the rad mount and welded it back together and bent new some new tabs to set the radiator and lowered the radiator too.. a sharpie and a body saw took care of the bottom of the front fenders... i intend to redo that with some aluminum sheet when I take the headers off to have jet hot redo them..

Kind of an interesting vid on c6 aero. Sort of fits this thread

One more, again a c6.

I'll see if I can find a c3 (greenwood and Pickett did WT tests).

More smoke....

Published on Jul 17, 2014This video summarizes Chapters 3 and 4 of the book, "Theory and Applications of Aerodynamics for Ground Vehicles", by Dr. T. Yomi Obidi, published by SAE International. Concepts demonstrated include: wind tunnel flow characteristics, road test set-up, and track testing.

Looks interesting, haven't watched it all yet

In the early 60's I was a stoodent at Univ. of Maryland, College Park, and as heading north on US1 outta Wash DC, on the left used to be very prominently displayed on a large building 'Glen L. Martin, School of Aeronautics' from the Martin Aircraft daze, out of Cleveland Ohio, as I recall......

and the students talked of smoke testing, and one of the companies involved was Chrysler, doing aero tests on their concept cars.....I was in B screwal, but wanted to be in the cool school.....oh well.......:clobbered:

cool stuff, but why isn't the smoke-guy's hair moving? :chinese:

Most likely an open jet wind tunnel. Great for some things and taking photos.

This one is enclosed in a room, but some aren't.

You can stand relatively close to the jet.
