82 350 crossfire motor and 7004r forsale

I don' why, but it's somewhat even more impressive than a free '82

I can help you out on that serpentine drive since this 82 has one and the 90 motor thats going in the 82 has a complete one.

I'll take it happily if you can call Crate & Barrel or some such to pack and transport it to Vegas....

Steve

I could drive it up for a fee. only about a 4 hour drive.

I could finance your trip and even keep you overnight if you like. I couldn't possibly drive over to get it these days.

Wanna contact me direct? GT6Steve AT AOL Dot Com 702-813-9562

Casinos and strip clubs will put me up for the night  The motor isn't out of the car yet though but it ran pretty good about 2 years ago with 8 year old gas in it haha. Only thing I need off the trans is the tailshaft housing. The trans isn't a 82 model it's a 90 700r4. Trans seems to work fine though don't think the motor has any internal mods to it and I think the suffix comes back as a 82.

The tailshaft housing is what makes it fit the corvette right?

I don't know ... I'm dropping a 1990 engine and trans along with all C4 suspension, so not sure if the tailshaft housing will be needed after that. But need to keep it just to be sure.

TimAT, know a goodly bit more than me about the 700 trannies....but, the C4 tailshaft housing is only good in a C4 almost useless for a C3 conversion, the mounting is totally different...suffice to say....

there is no tail shaft length differences since the daze of the 350-400 trannies....

but to put any normal mounted 700 in a C3 you will have to shorten the drive shaft by about 2.5 inches....

and use the C3 350 tranny output yoke....

now here is the krazy part....IMO...you better off with a thm 200 4r than a 700....but if you go the 700 route you need rebuild it with a bunch of grenade proof parts...gets expensive...about a grand in parts alone...

I could probably use a basic f-body tailshaft housing because I plan on mounting the c4 front differential mount to my frame. I've never seen how everything looks under a c3 since I have never been under this one. But I do know when the 90 trans was put in it, my 82 housing had to be used but I think is was more for the speedometer drive then crossmember mounting.

About two years ago I started the car and aside from the noxious old gas stinking me out of the garage the car ran fine and it's trans worked fine.

You know you have put a ton of time in the 90 and it is way to nice to be a parts car. Why don't you just put it back on the road and enjoy driving it. Then just add a TPI set up to your 82 and you will have the same results in the end plus a second car.

Because dmv wants there 1200.00 to register and I love the looks of the 82 far better and the 90 is going to be a donor for far more then just the TPI and this way the 82 will perform as good as a 90 and handle as well to. Those are the two things I have always hated about the 82. Once those issues are fixed along with the crappy 60's era steering, the this will be a killer car to take the top off and cruise to the beach.

I already have a second and 3rd car haha a 97 camaro and a 2000 windstar.

The only difference between the 82 700R4 and the later corvette ones is that the 82 has a mech speedo drive and as such the hole in the tailshaft is different.
