While looking through some stuff I had in storage, I found a gallon of body filler. My guess is that it's about 5 years old.

Trash or treasure?
 
I would keep it, even if trash it could still be handy for making molds or any other kind of temporary works.
Just see if it still harden.
 
except for filling old holes in wood I would toss it. for metal work on cars its just not worth finding out how many freeze cycles it went through and if its still good. the stuff is cheap enough. I only buy qt sizes these days for that very reason.
 
At first glance at the post title, I thought you were asking how long bondo lasted after being applied. How long does it last after applied?...It'll last for the time period between being applied and when you buy the car.
 
The actual resin lasts a long time.
The catalyst goes bad after about a year.
You'll find that out when the resin only partially sets up.
