Going crazy here with no power at home or the shop. I figured we could use a little tech talk here too...
Here's what I was working on before the storm:

As mentioned before, the entire car is being re-wired with a painless universal harness. Fuse box is relocated to behind the small console access cover. I'm also doing an RFID push start with keyless entry.

Molex connectors on all of the gauges and indicators

No more radio... Going to make an iPhone dock so ill have a small screen for GPS, pandora, iTunes, Sirius/XM and whatever other Internet radio apps there are. Audio goes through a JL audio volume knob/preamp to a super small and lightweight 100w amp.

I also deleted the dash vents for some nice infinity tweeters with some more alcantara to match the rest of the interior parts

Infinity woofers just barely fit in the kicks

Looking good, should have done the same when I redid the wiring on the 77..relocating would have been easy

I love the RFID start systems... I'm still in the research phase for fingerprint start for the CTS Spider - my wife loses keys on a regular basis, so I figure she won't lose her fingerprints :) It'd be easy to replace the rfid with a fingerprint pad - then a start button. thanks for the idea :)

Me being a cheep skate, used a old garage door opener with a latch relay, interrups a computer +12 wire......

Doesnt look like much has changed but most wires are now routed properly, and I think* I have everything wired properly. Crossing my fingers that everything works as it should when I hook up a battery!

The most time consuming thing so far would be making everything serviceable and removable as if it came from the factory like this. I dont really ever picture myself taking any of this apart again, and probably no one else will see any of it. But knowing that its done right makes me sleep at night.

This is the circuit board and controller for the in-dash shift light and on-the-fly rev limiter control. Added plugs for all of the different in/outputs.

Now everything is pulled out of the car again to get it ready to lay some lizard skin down

Laid the lizard skin down... Now Im contemplating trailering it down to my friends shop to get the cage in before I put all the wiring back or finishing the wiring and driving it down.
Not much other progress besides getting my power window switches in place.
BMW style from electric life:
