Grabbed the wife a nnnnnniiiiiiiiccccccceeeeee 2000 camaro LS1 from some long time friends. We knew the car had a code on and figured at 11 years old no big deal. This is for the secondary air pump system:
Question is; can I just pull that crap off? Will it disturb anything else?

I do have HP tuners and already licensed the car, so I can simple turn this code off. Will allowing the pump to operate with this matter???

I am in a non inspection state.

Appears that GM had many issues with this system and had a recall but this one is out of recall date. They say that water gets in due to initial crank up and the moisture eventually kills the pump.

Thoughts?

Thanks

I used to have a 99 Z28 - the AIR crap and the EGR was among the first things to go bye bye.... a handheld programmer like the Diablosport Predator (or HP tuners) will take care of the codes.... the pump often has an annoying whine to it...

Post a few photos of the car

Good deal, as soon as I get the 82 back together I'll start on taking crap off of this one. :thumbs:df

Hey, did you get my message about the HRPT? I know I often seem to miss messages.

thanks!

don't have to buy a code reader. Just disconnect the batt for a few seconds. But the code will keep coming back.

Maybe there's a way to fool the sensor. The LS1 forums should know about this.

They aren't talking about a code reader. They are talking about editing that out of the computer so it won't set that code at all anymore.

With a programmer you can change the flag status of those codes, it will still set them but won't affect performance and not set the cel

IF GM used a similar concept as the '99 Escort, this maybe help....

It was pulling code EGR insufficient flow...me wondering how in hell it sensed the flow...well, the pipe ran from exhaust mani to valve mounted on intake, so I changed the valve and took a lag bolt as a file to scrape the carbon buildup off the intake passage removed the t-body to get a small vac in there to suck up the carbon....but no go, it still set code....at this point I note there are two ~1/4" diameter pipes leading to this sensor on the firewall, I pull the sensor off and note there is flow through the two pipes....this sensor was about 1"x2"x4" potmetal silver box....6 rivits....called two parts houses, it was IN STOCK at both places, 50 bux.....so I drilled the rivets and pulled it apart....condensate from the system in there, just water, dried it out, used some stiff 12 ga copper wire to hold it together again, only 3 gaskets involved, and it's been a week and plenty of use, no code....car has lost fuel economy down from a typical 30++ to about 25mpg.....

inside this box was a microphone and a circuit board...all nice and sealed units....which is why they survived the water .....

now on the outside of this box was some company name with PATENT on it....so I suspect they sold it to Ford and anyone else that needed it....

Wonder is that includes GM???
