This from one of our heroes returning home from defending our freedom.....

As the Chalk Leader for my flight home from Afghanistan, I witnessed the following:

When we were on our way back from Afghanistan, we flew out of Baghram Air Field. We went through customs at BAF, full body scanners (no groping), had all of our bags searched, the whole nine yards. Our first stop was Shannon, Ireland to refuel. After that, we had to stop at Indianapolis, Indiana, to drop off about 100 folks from the Indiana National Guard. That's where the stupid shit started.

First, everyone was forced to get off the plane-even though the plane wasn't refueling again. All 330 people got off that plane, rather than let the 100 people from the ING get off. We were filed from the plane to a holding area. No vending machines, no means of escape. Only a male/female latrine.

It's probably important to mention that we were ALL carrying weapons.
Everyone was carrying an M4 Carbine (rifle) and some, like me, were also carrying an M9 pistol. Oh, and our gunners had M-240B machine guns. Of course, the weapons weren't loaded. And we had been cleared of all ammo well before we even got to customs at Baghram, then AGAIN at customs.

The TSA personnel at the airport seriously considered making us unload all of the baggage from the SECURE cargo hold to have it re inspected. Keep in mind, this cargo had been unpacked, inspected piece by piece by U.S. Customs officials, resealed and had bomb-sniffing dogs give it a one-hour run through. After two hours of sitting in this holding area, the TSA decided not to re-inspect our cargo-just to inspect us again: Soldiers on the way home from war, who had already been inspected, re-inspected and kept in a SECURE holding area for 2 hours. Ok, whatever. So we lined up to go through security AGAIN.

This is probably another good time to remind you all that all of us were carrying actual assault rifles, and some of us were also carrying pistols.

So we're in line, going through one at a time. One of our soldiers had his Gerber multi-tool. TSA confiscated it. Kind of ridiculous, but it gets better. A few minutes later, a guy empties his pockets and has a pair of nail clippers. Nail clippers. TSA informs the soldier that they're going to confiscate his nail clippers. The conversation went something like this:

TSA Guy: You can't take those on the plane.

Soldier: What? I've had them since we left country.

TSA Guy: You're not supposed to have them.

Soldier: Why?

TSA Guy: They can be used as a weapon.

Soldier: [touches butt stock of his rifle] But this actually IS a weapon. And I'm allowed to take it on.

TSA Guy: Yeah but you can't use it to take over the plane. You don't have bullets.

Soldier: And I can take over the plane with nail clippers?

TSA Guy: [awkward silence]

Me: Dude, just give him your damn nail clippers so we can get the hell out of here. I'll buy you a new set.

Soldier: [hands nail clippers to TSA guy, makes it through security]

To top it off, the TSA demanded we all be swabbed for "explosive residue" detection. Everyone failed, [go figure, we just came home from a war zone], because we tested positive for "Gun Powder Residue".

Who the hell is hiring these Fucking Morons?

This might be a good time to remind everyone that approximately 233 people re-boarded that plane with assault rifles, pistols, and machine guns-but nothing that could have been used as a weapon.

Can someone please tell me: What the hell happened to OUR country while we were away defending it?

Sgt. Mad Dog Tracy
[Ed. note: Obviously, no one at the TSA has ever heard of a butt stroke or been involved in hand-to-hand combat. Doesn't it make you feel safer to
know you are protected by FUCKING IDIOTS!]

Stupidity reigns supreme.....

This reminds me of a friend who owned a pizza restaurant, he got pulled over on the way home after work one night. He always had a large amount of cash from the day's sales and he carried a loaded pistol for protection. The police officer informed him that he had to keep the bullets in the trunk and that he could not carry a loaded weapon. He then asked the police officer in his broken English....

Ifa da robber comes an 'e say to me stickemup wadda I'm gonna do, say wait a minnit, I gotta go getta my bullets outta da trunk?

Fucking stupidity.

Some of you all may know/remember that I spend 53 years in the DC region, and so about 40 of them were cognitive.....the political leadership and upper 'management' in that region don't have the collective brain power to blow off a .22 ....the joint is good for tourists, that's it.......

Aside from how absurd this at face value, these TSA "Agents" think they're protecting the public. Worse than the agents at the airports is the so called leadership that imposes the directives. So, we end up with one more bloated, ineffective, very expensive kabuki dance. Here's another real world situation where profiling makes perfect sense. Let's see...soldiers on the way home from war....they and their gear have been checked and re-checked. Do you really think they'd let anyone interfere with that flight? Really? And these soldiers have actual training and experience not like the hour long video training the TSA has. Another way my government embarrasses me.

Worse than just regular bureaucrats, are those who can't think, won't think and/or won't take action. Whoever was in charge should have been on the ground and made an executive decision! Please tell your friend we're sorry they had to endure this BS. We have to make our government better...

Welcome Home and thank you for serving our country!

As far as idiocy goes, I believe you will be appalled at what is considered acceptable behavior and policy in the civilian world. We have another war at home and it is fought with votes. Vote the idiots and self-serving thieves out, and encourage bright, honest leaders to run for office. They are out there!

I sent this to my TSA friend and told him to fix the STUPID

Yep. Sad to say, but it sounds like the guidelines need some tuning.
They probably have no exception rules, making it stupid in enforcing.

Ya Know, as much as I love this story, and I really do.... I'm inclined to run it thru Snopes as it seems too well crafted. Nobody hates Authority more than me but I stiil have a niggling feeling this story is just a bit over the top....

It was sent to me by a friend. Please let us know what you find out? As everyone love to bash Obama so maybe you can find more info so everyone can bash him some more.

HOGWASH, that is what I say. If real, the soldier would have identified himself by more than a nickname.
Just because a friend sent it don't mean jack, friends send friends bs email all the time.

Unless proven otherwise with an in person intervue with soldiers that were on the flight it is internet myth.

Come'on guys, these TSA guys were bullied for years behind counters at our favorite fast food joints. They are just happy they have a minute bit of authority even though they still don't make shit. But let them be in the spotlight for awhile hahahaha
