I read a lot about the first gear ratios on the 700R4 trans but what is the OD gear ratios?

.70 is all I have ever seen posted on the 700, and it's what the ATSG books have also.....

BUT, on the 200 4r, ATSG has it as the same .70 yet other solid inputs list it as .67 & .68.......

so it's damn close, anyway.... call it .70 for the day job....

I researched transmission ratios awhile back, I believe these are the correct numbers:

TH350:
1st - 2.52
2nd - 1.52
3rd - 1.00
OD - x

TH400:
1st - 2.48
2nd - 1.48
3rd - 1.00
OD - x

200-4R:
1st - 2.74
2nd - 1.57
3rd - 1.00
OD - 0.67

700R4:
1st - 3.06
2nd - 1.63
3rd - 1.00
OD - 0.70

IIRC , DC3's numbers are about right on. If I remember the GM class on the 700, the convertor adds nearly a 2:1 ratio when it's unlocked. That will put the 1st gear on a 700 about 6.12:1. Add a 3.70 rear to that and you get a 9.8 1st gear- not counting tire size.
If it wasn't for the problems with drivability having a locked convertor all the time, one could just about leave the convertor on the bench.
