Gauge of Alt wiring

Stock is only 10-12 ga for a stock shark, from alt output stud/nut to the horn relay.....
the rest is signal wire....16-18 ga is fine....
but if you talking a higher output alt, like a Cs140...that requires a output wire more akin to 8 ga, maybe 6, fine strand because of vibration...
