If doing a stock rebuild on a 350 is it necessary to degree the cam?

Thanks,
Danny

no, dot dot is fine

We assume you mean the crank at 12 oclock....and then the cam can be 6 OR 12 oclock....but the CRANK has to be 12....

:friends:

Dot to dot is the easiest. (KISS)
crank-12, cam-6. where the dots meet.

Younger people trained on digital time may never have seen a clockface
Just like manual windows.

Yes, that is what I am doing. Just wondering why some guys use a degree wheel and some don't. I guess I would if it was a high performace build but this is plain bone stock build.

First, most Chevy cams are ground with 4* advance built in- if you want to change that, then you need to know exactly where it is so you know exactly how much you're changing it. For a stock rebuild, no need to go that far.

If you set the cam/crank gears so the dots are at 12 and 6 (dots closest to each other) it's in the #6 firing position and ready to go.
