Compressor - HVLP gun and pressure drop

I set the valve at the filter to 90psi, then adjusted the valve at the gun to 30psi which is what I usually set it to and it should be roughly 10psi at the cap... this setup has worked well in the past...

Now.... last time I used the compressor and my DeVilbiss Finishline gun (HVLP) I had pretty much 'zero' pressure at the gun 2 seconds after I pulled the trigger... :bonkers:

The gauge at the gun inlet reads 40psi, then I pull the trigger and it sprays fine for about two seconds then the pressure drops and the gun just spits....

I am using these deVilbiss desiccant "snakes" - could these be plugged ??

One day this week I am going to remove (bypass) the filter/dryer and hook the gun directly to the compressor to see how it sprays then... any idea what else could be the problem ? I have 1/4" connectors but this setup has worked fine in the past .. :bonkers::bonkers:

Sorry...I moved my post to the Paint and Body section

No doubt....the refrigerator type dryer will work well, but for most of us who are not doing production painting, space is limited and projects spoty. For this reason compromises are often made to get-er-done. This is one creative idea that worked for one enthusiast.

I'm thinking a coil in a 5 gallon bucket that will hold ice and water might work while conserving space. At some point, I expect to be putting a new compressor outside and be faced with a similar problem, so I'm interested in effective options and consensus discussed here.
