Need take to some shop, maybe parts house to do that reliable....

coils can break down and internal arc but yet measure just fine, all sorts of stuff, they can have internal electronics in the unit, typically drivers for the coils, and just a signal wire to them....
 
My 97 once pulled a miss detected in #6 cylinder and it was chased for awhile and later found to be a plug wire that was blistered heavily in a spot you couldn't see it. I'm saying this because OBD2 generally can pinpoint the problem area so I would think it would have flash a PO code for the module being bad. But then again I could be wrong and generally speaking I am 90% of the time.
