What did I do now??Electrical help??

Crossed a wire on alt the other day and put pos onto battery,she started arking and smoke from alt.Still had power to starter and alt,but nowheres else.Just replaced both fuseable links on starter and im bk to the begining??No gauges or anything.Power still at starter and alt.What else can I look for?:suicide:

1980 vette ? (from your profile)?? Check the large connector on the passenger side, it's near the hot water valve. It's a white-ish color and has a bunch of wires including a heavy gauge red one. These are often melted from normal use (connector is not adequate if connection is slightly bad due to corrosion) and in your case it may have burned up right there. Without it you will not have power in the car.

I found the connector,all wires are fine on it but it doesnt connect to anything??

My stupid.I missed it when I reconnected my wiring.Drove me nuts for 2 days.Glad you mentioned that conector,I was ready to send it to the shop.The bast....would of charged me for half a day and probably of fixed it in 10 minutes.Plus towing.I owe you a Beer or two.
