Greetings ALL,
I'm looking at getting a new clutch for "HER",
but I've no idea how to find out what's in it now
(without dismantaling it).
Is there an easy way to find out???
SHE's a '74 small block (L82) with 4 speed
(I've been told it'sa muncie).
Also any recommendations on a clutch??
I'm after one that's not too heavy-pedalwise
(as the Missus wants to drive "HER" too and I'm not getting any younger or fitter ).
May even consider a hydraulic setup.
Thanks to everyone one for your continued HELP, patience and inspiration :1st:(your costing me a fortune).
ALL THE BEST

It's gonna be either a 10 1/2" or 11". I believe the flywheel will accept either one. I would get a Mc Leod, or a Lokar.

You do need to know the spline count first. Pull the dust cover and look.

I think they went to the 26 spline in 71. Ol' Red has a 10 spline and the 73 Camaro I had was 26.

Hi

26 spline should be OK and the flywheel should accept the 11 " clutch.
Do resurface the flywheel as well and get it balanced.
Myne needed a lot of balancing and the balancer told me he is used to this on US cars to find US balanced units so far out.

The Centerforce double friction clutch is supposed to be rather light to push the pedal and the installed flywheels on the clutch apparently strengthen the clamping force with engine RPM increasing.

I have this clutch and it is OK. Some people don't like it, they believe it produces vibrations.

Rgds. Günther
