I have a question about the bolts in the trailing arms that hold the bearing support bolted to the arms. These are mounted with the nut towards the wheel. Any idea why the engineers did this, maybe besides being cost effective for some reason or another ?

Thanks

There's a knurl on the inside to prevent the stud from spinning. That's where you can't really get to comfortably to get a wrench or socket on....

It would be painful having to hold the bolt while tightening the nut:

I did know that, but why weren't these mounted from the bearing carrier side, with the nuts inside the trailing arm ? Wouldn't that be easier ?

not sure if you can get there with the spindle flange installed. The way it's installed from the factory you can remove the parking brake and dust shield and the rest stays on the trailing arm... other than that ...dunno....
