some years ago I remember reading about something called desmodromic?? vaves, and remember something of the configuration and so nothing was done....why???

I also not so very long ago read about the 'ball valve' configuration being tested also....which makes much more sense than anything including this common setup we run today.....

What ever happened to the ball valve tech??? seems to take a hell of a lot less power than running a bunch of lifter up and down fighting inertia and crap....

why that not going anywhere.....

:skeptic:

Arao engineering I think. Sold a few getups I believe.

Desmodromic is what Ducati and some BMWs use. They have a cam and rocker arrangement that not only OPENS the valve, but also closes it. It literally means linked track.

The roatary valve is a coates invention. I don't know what happened to it, they must be having sealing/wear issues. They had a bunch of other interesting innovations also like self adjsuting wheel bearings.
