SUPER RARE Vette coming to auction.

002 was restored a few years ago along with having an entire duplicate body made. I'll guess 3.5M

What is the reserve on it. You ever get to race it against it Howard?
That would be a cool car to own,but to rich for my blood :(

That car used to be owned by Jim Jaeger here in Cincinnati (founder of Escort radar detectors). Last I heard, he still owns it. I got to see his private collection a while back, just incredible.

.

Back in '95, the wife and I got to see the #5 car in person at the owners
home in Plant City, FL. I thought it was pretty cool of him.....not knowing
me from Adam. I just made a directory assistance cold call and asked if I
could see the car. After keeping him on the phone for an hour he agreed
to show it. Super nice guy.

At that time the #1 roadster appraised for 1.2M.

I would be willing to guess between 3M and 5M. I believe it was the #3 1953
that sold at B.J. in Scottsdale, AZ. for 1M not too long ago.

Plant City Fl.....isnt that the guy who owns the car museum just east of Tallahassee south of I 10 there??? I have seen that museum there, has a crazy collection of most every car ever made....

and tons of other stuff too, for the wife and kids to see.....amazing place....

Jim actually sold that car a few months ago. I bought an '01 Z06 from him in June and he sold the GS a little before that. It wasn't in his garage when I was there, only pictures, some with the grey/silver body, but he has one heck of a collection still.

I don't know anything about a museum. The guy I meet was Bill Tower.
He's an Engineer/Engine Builder. The #5 Grand Sport was in an attached
garage at his house along with several other Vettes and GMs that were
under covers. There was another building or two, but I did not go into
any of those. He also owns one of the SR2 cars built in the 50s.

If you've seen the book "Grand Sport" there is a photo of the #5 car
(still under restoration at the time) parked in front of the very garage
the car was in when I saw it (completed).
