1982 700R4 with 120,xxx miles. It has started leaking, but I can't tell where the leak is coming from.

The odd thing is, that it's inconsistent. 3 weeks ago I drove around town... maybe 20 miles, got home... an hour later there was a 6" puddle of fluid...

But a week after that, I went on a 300 mile trip and it was as dry as a bone...

I keep fluid levels full. It takes about 1/2 quart a month.

Any ideas where to start looking? Seals? etc.

(be specific... I'm not a transmission-guy!):wink:
 
Couple of spots come to mind- selector shaft seal, then the electric connector and the speedo. None are hard to find.

Hwy 291, just north of 23rd Street-- East side of 291. Jack Schorr. Best tranny guy in KC.

Mine has less miles, but does the same thing. Drives me crazy!
