Phantom of the Opera
In this housing crunch I find a totally golden opportunity to completely revamp the 'local school' system.....
but first we have to kill off and fire everyone in the Dept/Education in the Fed.gov......
NOW, we stop running school buses except in the way outlying areas.....
there are now some 50 billion vacant houses.....buy up a couple per hood for elementary schools, don't need a secretary, or principal or vice principal....
no intercoms, plenty of room for a teacher's aid to make lunch...PBJ and Sprite does nicely....
school starts at 9 and runs till 330
NO SCHOOL BUSES in a suburban enviornment, kids can walk, damnit....woopie doo....ride a bike if necessary.....stop parents transporting kids except in very crappy winter weather....frozen rain/etc....
Typical 40% of school budgets go to transportation.....eliminate it....
make schools smaller instead of larger....eliminate school sports, and courses in useless crap that does not equip students for REALITY in the workforce.....
enough of english lit, psych, sociology, philosoply, and IN with hard sciences, like physics, mechanics, math, bio science, chem, electronics, etc....plus of course how to open a checking account, how to handle credit, and save money to buy a house, how to do your own taxes, how to budget a household, how to run a BUSINESS.....
and have a HS degree by what is NOW the 10th grade.....16 and ready for college, at the local what is NOW a Jr. college level....where they get in 2-3 at most additional years, a modern BA/BS degree.....
Break up these overpaid underworked institutions known as modern universities.....fire all the liberal 'arts' professors, and hire in physics teachers....
