Yesterday we had a "season ending" race day at a local racing track. This is one of the cars from the track. Highly modified street car, revin up to 8500rpm's, 355 small block. Listen at the sound, remember to put your loudspeakers on. I have more vids, but this is the first clip I made.

Track was more or less wet and it was slippery. Still we had a tons of fun! :bounce:

8,500rpm small block chevy????? That's outrageous.:shocking:

I want to know the engine details :D Don't quite like the sounds, what's up with it??? Sounds like a 4 or 6 banger.

The vid doesn't tell the truth about the sound. It lacks the low rumble, only the high sounds came through. But you are somewhat right, it's not a real V8 sound. It's more like a Ferrari or Lambo sound.

Engine is based on a aftermarket iron block topped with RHS heads. Owner has ported heads by himself. Valves are moved with Jesel 1.6 rockers, total lift is about .8" (about 20mm). Camshaft is custom made specially for this engine. Ignition is modified from 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 to 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3 (same as LSx). Fuel is delivered with fuel injection managed by Tatech Engine management (company based in Finland). Of course everything else has to be up to specs too, but nothing is "extreme". Compression is about 12 if I'm correct. Power output is +600hp. That engine is one piece of art! Oh, one more thing, exhaust system is 180deg system. It's easier to do with modified ignition, no need to change sides with tubes.

There were also other cars on the track, here are few pics:

This is the car on the vid, unfortunately I didn't catch the flames...

That's it, the 180 exhaust..that's why it sounds so weird. Never really liked that.

Yep, some like the sound of 180 deg headers, some don't. I might be a bit partial but I do like the sound of this system...

I managed to put up another collection of different cars on the track. Just a short video of what was going on at the track.

One more small vid. The Camaro shown in the pic above put up a nice show burning up his old rear tyres. He didn't give us a hint what he was going to do, so this vid is taken far away from the car...
