Very interessting: parts for my wife's 2006 Beetle are 1.61 times higher than for my 2006 Corvette.... :banghead:

I already emailed her this .... and ordered more parts for the '79 - a desperate attempt to make up for the difference :D

The RockAuto.com parts catalog was mined to create a tool (found
at: http://www.rockauto.com/repairindex )for comparing the cost of
parts for two vehicles. It is another objective bit of data to use
when shopping for a used car. There are also fun surprises like
when parts for an "economy" car like the Chevy Metro cost more
than a parts for a performance or luxury car.

I thought you guys might find it interesting! Check it out!

NOthing new there man, just about ALL foreign badged or made parts are ass tro nomical in prices......the land of 600 dollar starter motors, 200 dollar special run one time only fuel injectors, that kind of crap.....

too boot, you get into like my wife's '99 Escort....BOSCH electricals, about the worst in the world, so who make a engine control module, up under the air cleaner??? Bosch, what was with it?? the a/c compressor dead no run at all, pull that 250 bux module apart and fixed TWO of them, wife's and a buddy's wife's....for ten bux.....put it back together and both fine...Wife's escort had a ignition switch interlock type problem, I managed to fix the Jap made switch and shifter interlock problems.....I note all the problems that Chrysler has with Mutsobitchy made sub assys....either engines or trannies in the minivans, or other vehicles....same thing....

then I look at Ball Joints I got for my '72 here, and from Auto Zone, they did not even fit the freeking lower arm....seriously....this was about 2 years ago...China struck again....

so a good source of parts that work is top priority on my list.....next group of stuff I need I looking up your all's site....

:bounce:

I used to think foreign car parts were higher because of low manufacturing volume. But not any more.... just bought a starter for a Mitsubishi 4 cyl diesel engine, maybe a gazillion of those truck engines all over the world, the stupid thing cost $600 bucks! And the pinnion gear is bad in the new one!

in '82 or so I found a bad wire and so got lucky on a '78 Datsun 810 wagon, when I found out they wanted 600 bux for the fuel injection pump.....mounted just in front of the pass rear wheel....

600 bux for a fuel pump, in '82 dollars......fat chance in HELL I will ever buy a foreign car again.....

:bonkers::crap:
